There goes my new year's resolution - remember that? A monthly newsletter for the website. Doesn't seem too much to ask, but needless to say, it's gone the way of all the others. A song springs to mind - "I'll Get Around To It When And If I Can" (!)
So what's new? Most importantly, we've finally found an agent. His name is Stephan Boyd (a good Irish name) and his agency is called ICON Performing Arts. Stephan has rolled up his sleeves and sent out 3,000 flyers to begin the campaign to get our two hour show into Performing Arts Centers and select clubs across the country. His labors will hopefully bear fruit in the Fall, but we do have some bookings in July. We look forward to seeing some of your smiling faces out there!
The fund raiding concerts at the Liberty Theater in my home town were a big successs, thank goodness. We raised $9,000. for Habitat for Humanity. We wanted to raise more but it's a tiny theater. We shot the whole thing with three cameras, so with any luck, we'll have a DVD out by the Fall. The CD which we're selling at the gigs this year will be the audio tracks from these two concerts - "C & J - Live at the Liberty". (I'll ask Jason to give you a sneak preview of the cover.)
If anyone from the Philippines is reading this, our special CD for you is almost finished. Danee Samonte, who promoted our concerts there is going to release it in a few weeks. It contains a bonus track of Summer Song with a Filipino lyric. (Boy, that was tough to do!) I must commend Danee for his patience, since delivery of the album is about a year and a half behind schedule!
An American release called "Reunion" is close to completion also. This will be our first venture into the wacky world of retail. Should be interesting. I-Tunes is another option we'll be exploring.
Jeremy is on tour in a play at the moment, but wants me to extend his good wishes to all. He says he can't wait to start singing and playing again. I believe him; months and months of saying the same lines every night doesn't appeal to me.
Last but not least, the notorious Super Bowl commercial. Yes, that was C&J warbling away in the ESPN spot. No, we weren't paid a dime. Jeffrey Kruger, officially known as Ember Records is collecting the proceeds from that transaction, along with all revenues from our record sales prior to our signing with Columbia and the licensing fees generated by Summer Song in the movies Rushmore and Princess Diaries. Wish us luck with the law suit!
