SAY IT ISN'T TRUE
(Chad Stuart/Russell Alquist)

People say you love another
And that you and I are through
Don't let rumors fly, tell them it's a lie
Say it isn't true

Maybe it's imagination
But I can't help feeling blue
Now that you are here girl, whisper in my ear girl
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true

Well I know that I shouldn't believe it
But have you heard the things they're saying?
Look at me, make me see
It's just a game they're playing

Tell me that it isn't over
Let me hear the words from you
Only you can please me, baby, don't you tease me
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true

SEASCAPE
(Chad Stuart)

Sunlight turns to gold,
And sparkles on the water,
Sending out a bridge of light for me
To travel over the sea.

My road to the horizon
Is dancing with shimmering waves of light,
Calling me, but I am standing here,
So far and yet so near.

I want to tread your golden pathway.
I want to get from here to there.
There is a longing in my heart
So take me anywhere!

Too soon the vision's ended;
The sun is melting into the sea.
The night wind is blowing on the shore;
My pathway beckons no more,
Until the new day comes.

I want to tread your golden pathway.
I want to get from here to there.
There is a longing in my heart
So take me anywhere!

SEPTEMBER IN THE RAIN
(Al Dubin/Harry Warren)

The leaves of brown came tumbling down, remember?
In September in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying ember
That September in the rain

To every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play a sweet refrain

Though Spring is here, to me it's still September
That September in the rain

SHOULD I?
(Chad Stuart & Jeremy Clyde)

Should I tell you after all that we've been through
Should I tell you, even though you don't want me to
Should I tell you goodbye?
Should I?

Could you show me a way out of this misery?
Could you show me any way to set me free?
Should I tell you goodbye?
Should I?

You know it's been a long, long time
We've been together
Don't you know I'm only being
Cruel to be kind?
Don't think badly of me
It's for the best, don't you see?

Should I tell you after all that we've been through
Should I tell you, even though you don't want me to
Should I tell you goodbye?
Should I?
I don't wanna tell you goodbye
But should I?

SIDEWALK REQUIEM/LOS ANGELES, JUNE 5th & 6th
In memory of Robert Kennedy
(Chad Stuart)

It's a cold grey morning
Mist fills the air
And sorrow fills the hearts
Of people everywhere
He's lying helpless
Hid from our view
While we just stand here
Don't know what to do

It's a cold grey morning
Death he has found
And people bow their heads
Their hopes dashed to the ground
He's gone for ever
Gone from this place
While I just stand here
Tears on my face

Too late now for pious words
Empty phrases praising the man
For all our prayers and tears
Won't bring him back again

It's a cold grey morning
Mist fills the air
And sorrow fills the hearts
Of people everywhere
When the silver airplane
Lifts him to the sky
We all lift our faces
For a last goodbye

SISTER MARIE
(D. Morrow)

Carefully presenting the semblance of peace
She fulfills her various duties
Until all the changes she goes through
Have wearied her

She writes to her sister at school in the East
To enquire how she is progressing
And startles herself by confessing
Her jealousy

It would be nice just to live like a lady
And to have someone to marry
It would be nice to have someone to care for
Someone to care when I'm buried

Life is not easy for Sister Marie
She finds that her thought is in error
Her captive face haunting the mirror
Discomforts her

She listens intently to Father McGhee
As he tells her that faith is a blessing
And she worries that he might be guessing
His irony

It would be nice just to live like a lady
And to have someone to marry
It would be nice to have someone to care for
Someone to care when I'm buried

It would be nice
It would be nice to have someone to love
It would be nice
It would be nice to have someone to love

SIXPENCE

(traditional)

Too bad I haven't got a sixpence
Not a penny in me pocket
All I have is just my love for you
And I will love you true

And it's so sad I can't give up a tuppence
I've got holes in both me pockets
All I've got is just my love for you
And I will love you true

Your eyes are so very luverly
How they light up the world for me
Make me feel like a bloke in love
Without a worry

Too bad I haven't got a sixpence
Not a penny in me pocket
All I have is just my love for you
And I will love you true

SOMETIMES

(Rod Argent)

Sometimes I feel a little lonely

Well don't you know that sometimes
Well don't you know that sometimes
I just have to hold you
And I know its all right

Well I'm so happy when I'm with you
When I touch you
All my feelings can't disguise
All the love I feel for you

Well I just wake up in the morning
And I wonder if this love is real
I've been hurt so many times before
That I know this love is real

Then sometimes I wonder
I really do
But I just have to hold you
And I know it's you

Well I'm so happy when I'm with you
When I touch you
All my feelings can't disguise
All the love I feel for you

Well I just wake up in the morning
And I wonder if this love is real
I've been hurt so many times before
But I know this love is real

Then sometimes I wonder
I really do
But I just have to hold you
And I know its you

STANLEY AND DORA

(traditional)

Stanley and Dora were lovers
They lived in the Tottenham Court Road
Livin it up at the Mecca
Where the strawberry milkshake flows

He was her Stan
Great big hunk of man

Now Dora worked at the Pavillion
The best usherette at the flicks
She sold Stan a seat for one and nine pence
What was worth some four and six

Yet he's posh
In his Macintosh

Now Dora was quickly promoted
To the circle she rose in a dream
When who should she see but her Stanley
With the bird what sells ice cream

Chucked her up
For a six penny cup

Now fate took a ran for our Dora
And Stan and his Wall's ice cream
They got killed in the rush for the exit
When they played "God Save the Queen"

God save our Stan
He's the only one who can

And that's that!

STICKS AND STONES

(Turner/Glover)

People talking trying to break us up
Why wont they let us be
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But talking dont bother me

People talking trying to break us up
When they know I love you so
I dont care what the people may say
I'll never ever let you go

I've been abused
In my heart
I've been abused
In my heart and soul

People talking trying to break us up
And they're scandalizing my name
They'll do anything to make me feel bad
Anything to make me shamed

I've been abused
In my heart
I've been abused
In my heart and soul

People talking trying to break us up
And they're scandalizing my name
They'll do anything to make me feel bad
Anything to make me shamed

They'll do anything to make me feel bad
Anything to make me shamed

SLEEP LITTLE BOY
(Russell Alquist)

Sleep little boy
Sleep and be warm as May
Take a voyage to dreamland far away
Ride on a cloud
Run down the milky way
Fill your pockets with moonbeams
Far, far away

Sleep, sleep
Rest your head and be happy
Softly, softly
Sing this song with me

Sleep little boy
Soon you will be a man
There is nothing to harm you
I'll hold your hand

A SUMMER SONG
(Stuart/Metcalfe/Noble)

Trees, swaying in the summer breeze,
Showing off their silver leaves
As we walk by.
Soft kisses on a summer's day,
Laughing all our cares away,
Just you and I.
Sweet, sleepy warmth of summer nights,
Gazing at the distant lights
In the starry sky.

They say that all good things must end some day;
Autumn leaves must fall.
But don't you know that it hurts me so
To say goodbye to you?
Wish you didn't have to go,
No, no, no, no.

And when the rain beats against my window pane,
I'll think of summer days again,
And dream of you,
And dream of you.

SUMMER TIME - AIN'T IT FUN

(Jeremy Clyde/Dave Pierce)

You gotta be careful
When the sun starts shinin'
And the birds start singin'
And the vines start twinin', oh yeah
You gotta be careful
When the brooks start brookin'
And the swings start swingin'
And the girls start lookin'

There goes another one, walking down the street
There goes another one that I'd love to meet
There goes another one, walkin' in the sun
Summertime, summertime ain't it fun

And you gotta be careful
When the days get longer
And the nights get shorter
And the sun gets stronger, oh yeah
You gotta be careful
When the sap starts cookin'
And the birds start singin'
And the girls start lookin'

There goes another one, walking down the street
There goes another one that I'd love to meet
There goes another one, walkin' in the sun
Summertime, summertime ain't it fun

SUNSTROKE
(Stuart/Noble)

Sitting in the sun
Looking back to the shade
Wondering whether it's real
Or just a transition I've made
(Transition I've made)

Sweat from a burning brow
Textured, tripled tiles
Orange, lemon, lime growing groves
Bring on half knowing smiles
(Half knowing smiles)

Has the heat gone to my head?
Is the sky really so blue?
I'm looking straight at the sun
I want to believe it's true
(Believe me I do)

It's a change from the usual run
To sit and turn brown in the sun
But if you're exposed too long
Do you still consider it fun?

TEENAGE FAILURE
(Jeremy Clyde)

Went up to my boss today
Said "Hey man, can I have more pay?"
I said, "Will ya? Please sir!"
He took one look at me and then
He said, "If you ask me that again, I'll kill ya!"

Why , why, why do I have to cry?
Ours not to reason why, I know
It's just to do and die, I know
But even so it seems that the world
Has passed me over

Same sort of thing with the birds in this town
I pick 'em up, they put me down
Still, you can't complain (much!)
If I had a fancy car, Mercedes or a Jaguar, I'd thrill 'em!

Why , why, why do I have to cry?
Ours not to reason why, I know
It's just to do and die, I know
But even so it seems that the world
Has passed me over

You should see how the women treat me
Perhaps I should have the guts to see I'm a failure
(A teenage failure!)
If you cheat on me again, I'l hire a detective
And then I'll have him trail ya!

Why , why, why do I have to cry?
Ours not to reason why, I know
It's just to do and die, I know
But even so it seems that the world
Has passed me over

Now this ain't a very fine song
But lucky for you, it ain't too long
(Sit still or I'll smash your face in!)
If I had an expensive guitar
I'd write great songs and I'd go far (maybe)
Why , why, why do I have to cry?
Ours not to reason why, I know
It's just to do and die, I know
But even so it seems that the world
Has passed me over

TELL ME BABY
(Stuart/Clyde)

Tell me baby, what's on your mind today?
Tell me baby, what's on your mind today?
Don't think I'm prying, I just want to know
Stop your crying, it's just that you worry me so
You know that you do
I worry 'bout you

Tell me baby, was he unkind today?
Tell me baby, was he unkind today?
Can't hide it from you, I want you so bad
If he's gone, I'll be sorry for you
But for me I'll be glad
Please tell me do
I worry 'bout you

Can't hide it from you, I want you so bad
If he's gone, I'll be sorry for you
But for me I'll be glad
Please tell me do
I worry 'bout you

Tell me baby, what's on your mind today?
Tell me baby, what's on your mind today?

THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO SAY
(Chad Stuart)

When you gave me your love
I'm sad to say
I used it and abused it
Without knowing the price
I had to pay
I took your heart and bruised it

Goodbye - that's really all there is to say
Don't Cry - and let me wipe your tears away
We tried - but now it seems we've had our day
So now that it's over, I'll be on my way

With love in the palm of my hand
I'm sad to say
I gave you cause to doubt me
And now with somebody new
You've found a way
To live your life without me

Goodbye - that's really all there is to say
Don't Cry - and let me wipe your tears away
We tried - but now it seems we've had our day
So now that it's over, I'll be on my way

THERE BUT FOR FORTUNE
(Ochs)

Show me the prison, show me the jail
Show me the prisoner who's life has gone stale
And I'll show you, young man, with so many reasons why
There but for fortune go you and I

Show me the ally, show me the train
Show me the hobo as he sleeps out in the rain
And I'll show you, young man, with so many reasons why
There but for fortune go you and I

Show me the whiskey stains on the floor
Show me the drunkard as he stumbles out the door
And I'll show you, young man, with so many reasons why
There but for fortune go you and I

Show me the country where the bombs had to fall
Show me the ruins of the buildings once so tall
And I'll show you a young land with so many reasons why
And there but for fortune go you and I

THESE THINGS YOU DON'T FORGET
(Van McCoy)

I recall the sound of her voice
And the tender touch of her lips
And the way she sighed whenever we kissed
These things you don't forget
These things you don't forget

I remember stars in her eyes
And a touch of moonlight in her hair
And the sweet perfume that she used to wear
These things you don't forget
These things you don't forget

Although she's no longer mine
Memories are stronger than time

I recall the sound of her voice
And the tender touch of her lips
And the way she sighed whenever we kissed
These things you don't forget
These things you don't forget

THIS HOUSE IS HAUNTED

(Chad Stuart)

There's a blank expression on your face
It's like you vanished without a trace
You're an empty room, a vacant space
A hole in my life that I can't erase
There's a perfect stranger in your place
And you're a ghost I can't embrace

Looks like the same old situation
Romance repossessed, our lives in arbitration
I've tried to pretend, but I can't fake it
You've become a habit and there's no way I can break it

This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love

We're living side by side but we're not sharing
Love is on the run when there's no more caring
Maybe we're afraid of rejection
Whatever happened to that psychic connection?

This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love

Every day - we turn love into hate
Every day - I feel so isolated
Every day - we surrender to our fate
Tell me is it too late?

It's time for us to make some changes
We can't go on living like strangers
I'm yours, heart and soul, you'd better believe it
But if you don't give love, you surely won't receive it

This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love
This house is haunted - by the memory of your love

THIS MORNING

(traditional)

Tell old Bill when he leaves home this morning
Tell old Bill when he leaves home this evening
Tell old Bill when he leaves home
To let those downtown girls alone

This morning, this evening, so soon

Old Sal was baking bread this morning
Old Sal was baking bread this evening
Old Sal was baking bread
When she got news that Bill was dead

This morning, this evening, so soon

Oh Lord it can't be so, this morning
Oh Lord it can't be so, this evening
Oh Lord, it can't be so
For Bill left home about an hour ago

This morning, this evening, so soon

They brought Bill home in a hurry up wagon this morning
They brought Bill home in a hurry up wagon this evening
They brought Bill home in a hurry up wagon
They brought Bill home with his toes a'draggin

This morning, this evening, so soon
This morning, this evening, so soon

TOBEY'S SONG

(Chad Stuart)

Hello, hello, how are you?
How's it been, I'm asking you
Do you really want to know?
I'll tell you how its been

Look at me and tell me what you see
Someone you used to know
Who feels so all alone
Can't you see that I've changed?
How are you?

In my sadness I've found happiness
What else can I say?
What do you want me to say?
Should I say that I'm fine?
How are you?

Take my hand and hold it fast
Take my hand I'm asking you
Can't you see how things could be?
Let's both join hands
And take hold

TOO SOON MY LOVE

(Alquist)

Too soon my love
The summer's kiss has gone
Too soon my love
The frost lies on the lawn

It seems the autumn season brings sadness for no reason
It seems that way and yet I know
It's you, it's you and not September's song
That wakes my sleep and makes this night so long

It's you in every way
Through every single day
And in a crowd its just the same
I always hear your name

And now as snow clouds gather from the sea
I still can hear your voice call out to me
And though im just pretending this summer has no ending
My love for you is like a constant tune
With words of love that ended all too soon

TRANS ATLANTIC TRAUMA 1966
(Jeremy Clyde)

Hello there! Well everything's fine
I got your letter, did you get mine?
I'm pleased to hear you're working again
Up at six and to bed at ten
But oh, there's so many things I know
That I just can't write
Like how you feel in the night
(Wish I could)

The weather's bad, well that's nothing new
I hear the heat's on, now is that true?
I'm writing from Boston and Chad is uptight
I broke two strings on stage last night
But I don't really want to know about the London scene
That sort of chat just leaves me flat

I miss you so much, what more can I say
In two or three pages? I hate it this way
It's such an impossible strain
Corny old phrases repeated again
It's a game that we play

Well I must go, I really must fly
I'll send you some albums, at least I'll try
If ev'rything's cool, I'll see you quite soon
Maybe July or possibly June
But though I want you here, I know
That that might blow the dream
You see, I'm scared to pay the fare
Goodbye for now

THE TRUTH OFTEN HURTS THE HEART

(Metcalfe/Noble)

Can't give you love
That's just not there
Or even say it's for you
I really care

Your eyes
I see
Begin to smart
Yes the truth often hurts a heart

The girl I love
She laughed with me
When we walked and kissed
I felt so free

Then she turned
And said
We'd better part
Yes the truth often hurts a heart

You love me more than I love you
That's something that I've had said to me
It's the way of love they blindly say
But only time consoles the misery

I never thought I'd be unkind
And I can see
That you
That you're really mine

So it's hard
For me
To break apart
Yes the truth often hurts a heart

You love me more than I love you
That's something that I've had said to me
It's the way of love they blindly say
But only time consoles the misery

I never thought I'd be unkind
And I can see
That you
That you're really mine

So it's hard
For me
To break apart
Yes the truth often hurts a heart
Yes the truth often hurts a heart

A VERY GOOD YEAR
(Drake)

When I was seventeen, it was a very good year
It was a very good year
For small town girls and soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights on the village green
When I was seventeen

When I was twenty one, it was a very good year
It was a very good year
For city girls who lived up the stairs
With perfumed hair that came undone
When I was twenty one

When I was thirty five, it was a very good year
It was a very good year
For blue blooded girls of independent means
We'd ride in limousines their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty five

But now the days are short, I'm in the autumn of my years
And I think of my life as vintage wine
From fine old kegs
From the brim to the dregs, it poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT
(Fields/Kern)

Some day, when I'm feeling low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

Lovely, with your smile so warm
And you cheek so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight

With each word, your tenderness grows
Tearing my fears apart
And the laugh that wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart

Lovely, never never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it 'cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight

WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?
(Chad Stuart & Jeremy Clyde)

What do you want with me?
Oh baby, can't you see
My love and I were happy
Before you came along
And it'll stay that way
"Cause I won't let her down
I love her, can't you see?
What do you want with me?

What do you want with me?
Oh baby, I can see
You only want to brake us up
And use me for a while
Then you'll leave me cryin'
I've heard it all before
Your other boys have told me
What do you want with me?

The love I've got
Is something else again
She's loving, she's true
Let me tell you, she's not a bit like you
And I'm asking you a question

What do you want with me?
Why don't you let me be?
I know it would be easy
To fool around with you
But you should know by now
I've promised to be true
I love her can't you see
What do you want with me?

WHEN YOUR LOVE HAS GONE
(Goldsboro)

When you love has gone, there is no dawn
There is no sun to shine on you
When you love has gone, there is no-one
For you to tell your troubles to
There's no-one you can call your own
All at once, you're all alone
When you love has gone
When you love has gone

Ev'ry single day that she's away
It seems the day will never end
In your dreams at night, you hold her tight
But when the night has gone again
You realize there's no-on else
All at once, you're by yourself
When you love has gone
When you love has gone

When love has gone
You're left alone
There's nowhere you can run to
There's no-one you can turn to
It doesn't help for you to say
That she'll be back again some day

When you love has gone, you realize
You're all alone and then you cry
You try to forget, but you can't get
Her memory out of your mind
There's no-one who can take her place
Everywhere you see her face
When you love has gone
When you love has gone

WHY SHOULD I CARE?
(Chad Stuart & Jeremy Clyde)

Why should I care?
Worry about you the way that I do?
It's only fair
You're breaking my heart and you're making me blue
And I thought that we could be happy
But now, can't you see I'm so sad

Why should I care?
You never call me, so what can I do?
It's so unfair
Your line's always busy, I never get through
And I thought that you would be sorry
You're so cruel to me, it's too bad

Let me be, just leave me alone
I'll live my life without you
Can't you see that the good times have gone
Everybody knows about you
The way you treated me bad, oh yeah
You're making me sad, oh yeah
You treated me bad

Why should I care?
Now that I'm going with somebody new
It's only fair
You'll always hurt me, whatever you do
So I'll leave you here and not worry
Yes, I'll leave you now and I'll be glad

WILLOW WEEP FOR ME

(Ronnell)

Willow weep for me
Willow weep for me
Bend your branches green
Along the stream that runs to sea

Listen to my plea
Listen willow, and weep for me

Gone my lover's dream
Lovely summer's dream
Gone and left me here
To weep my tears into the stream

Sad as I can be
Hear me willow, and weep for me

Whisper to the wind
And say that love has sinned
Leave my heard a'breaking
And making a moan

Murmur to the night
To hide her starry light
So none will find me sighing
And crying all alone

Weeping willow tree
Weeping sympathy
Bend your branches down
To the ground and cover me

When the shadows fall
Bend, oh willow, and weep for me

WOMAN IN YOU
(Chad Stuart & Jeremy Clyde)

I get home from my work
I'm feelin' tired and grey
I'm lookin' for your lovin'
That's the treat at the end of my day
I know you're there to meet me
I know what you're gonna say
Sun shines when I'm with you
Come on, make hay!
Woman in you
Yeah, that's what it must be, oh yeah
Woman in you
Bringin' out the man in me

Sometimes I get angry
I wish that you were dead
I take one look at you child
Take back all I said
Woman in you
Yeah, that's what it must be, oh yeah
Woman in you
Bringin' out the man in me

If you ever leave me
Leave me high and dry
I wopuldn't go chasin' another
Wouldn't even try
Woman in you
Yeah, that's what it must be, oh yeah
Woman in you
Bringin' out the man in me

YESTERDAY'S GONE
(Chad Stuart)

I loved you all the summer through.
I thought I'd found my dream in you,
But now it's over and done,
'Cause that was yesterday
And yesterday's gone.

We walked together hand in hand
'Cross miles and miles of golden sand.
For me you were the one,
But that was yesterday,
And yesterday's gone.

We had such happiness together;
I can't believe it's gone for ever and ever.

Wait till summer somes again,
I hope that you'll remember when
Our love had just begun.
I loved you yesterday,
But yesterday's gone.

YOU ARE SHE
(Chad Stuart & Jeremy Clyde)

Somewhere in the shadows of my mind
I know there is, I know there is
A girl who waits for me
Who only needs my touch to live
And I am sure that you are she

So walk to me and take me by the hand
And lead me to, and lead me to
The bright untarnished sea
There give me love and share my dreams
And then I'll know that you are she

Don't even know the color of your hair
But once I see you standing there
I will know you instantly

So if you're in the fields across the way
And wond'ring if, and wond'ring if
You dare come up to me
Don't hesitate, don't be afraid
For I will know that you are she

YOU NEED FEET
(traditional)

You need feet to stand up straight with
You need feet to kick your friends
You need feet to keep your socks on
And stop your legs from fraying at the ends

You need feet to join the army
And to dance the hoochy-koo (on Saturday night)
Yes the whole world needs feet for something
And I need feet to run away from you

YOU KNOW WHAT

(Evans/Parnes)

You know what?
I'm your guy
You know what?
Untill the day I die

Cause when I'm near you dear you thrill me so
And there is nothing you can say or do to make me go
You can leave my side hurt my pride
I'm hanging on till the end of the line
You know I go for you

You know what?
I'm your guy
You know what?
Until the day I die

And when I hold you and fold you in my arms
The only thing I'm conscious of is all your charms
You can say we're through, make me blue
Some day baby you'll love me too
You know I go for you

And when I hold you and fold you in my arms
The only thing I'm conscious of is all your charms
You can say we're through, make me blue
Some day baby you'll love me too
You know I go for you

You know what?
I'm your guy
You know what?
Until the day I die

Until the day I die
Until the day I die
Until the day I die
Until the day i die

YOUR MAMA'S OUT OF TOWN

(Carter/Lewis)

Open the door and let me in
It's me, it's me, I'm here again
Give me a smile and show me through
You know I'm here to be with you

No one to see us
No one else around
So cuddle me tight and turn out the light
Your mama's out of town tonight

Look at the moon we know so well
I'm sure my love that he won't tell
Don't be afraid to hold my hand
I'm sure your ma would understand

It's very quiet
Not a single sound
So cuddle me tight and turn out the light
Your mama's out of town tonight

Better put the cat out
For you know what they say
People say when the cat's away
All the mice will play

So let yourself go and in a while
Perhaps you'll show a little smile
One of these days we'll have a home
A little place to call our own

It wont be long now
I put the money down
So turn out the light and cuddle me tight
Your mama's out of town tonight

It wont be long now
I put the money down
So cuddle me tight, turn out the light
Your mama's out of town tonight

Your mama's out of town tonight

YOU'VE GOT YOUR TROUBLES (I'VE GOT MINE)

(Greenaway/Cook)

I see that worried look upon your face
You've got your troubles I've got mine
She's found somebody else to take your place
Youve got your troubles Ive got mine

I too have lost my love today
All of my dreams have flown away

Now just like you I sit and wonder why
You've got your troubles I've got mine
You need some sympathy well so do I
You've got your troubles I've got mine

She used to love me that I know
And it don't seem so long ago
When we were walking
When we were talking
The way that lovers do

And so forgive me if I seem unkind
You've got your troubles I've got mine
I'd help another place, another time
You've got your troubles I've got mine

You've got your troubles I've got mine
You've got your troubles I've got mine

ZANZIBAR SUNSET
(Jeremy Clyde/David Pierce/Rick Jones)

In a dream
Or in my drifting days after the war
I found a tea-room north of the Mozambique shore
Worn Persian carpet on the sandalwood floor
Pointed slippers by the bamboo door
On the wall, a faded picture of a movie queen
Torn from the pages of some ancient magazine
Sleeping parrot dreaming parrot dreams

And I sat and watched the Zanzibar sunset
Dissappear behind the sea
With nothing to do until morning
And only my mind for company

In a dream
Or in my wandering years long ago
I watched the tropical twilight falling like snow
Silhouette of palms in the afterglow
Caravan of camels on the beach below
Some day soon when I can't take it no more
I'll pack my bag for that distant shore
Gonna leave my shoes by that dusty bamboo door

And I'll sit and watch the Zanzibar sunset
Dissappear behind the sea
With nothing to do until morning
And only my mind for company
